Early Life and Education
Innes Ireland was born on June 12, , in Mytholmroyd, Yorkshire, England.
Innes Ireland was a Scottish military officer, engineer, and race car driver.
His father was a veterinary surgeon. Ireland's family moved back to Kirkcudbright, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, during his childhood. He pursued an engineering apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce, initially in Glasgow and later in London.
Formula One Career
Ireland made his Formula One debut in with Lotus, where he spent the next three seasons.
He showed promise early on, finishing in the points twice in his debut season, including a fourth-place finish in his first race, the Dutch Grand Prix. He finished 14th in the Drivers' Championship that year (5 points).
