Jeremy Wilson's Lawrence of Arabia: The Authorised Biography of T.E. Lawrence remains the longest and most comprehensive book about its subject.

As the authorized biographer, Wilson had the cooperation of Lawrence's brother Arnold and access to mountains of private correspondence and personal documents previous biographers could only read in part. If Wilson's book is long (900+ pages of text) and the prose workmanlike at best (including long excerpts from letters, diaries and communiques), the sheer exhaustive thoroughness more than compensates.
