Biography of Leonard Bloomfield
Leonard Bloomfield was an American linguist born on April 1, 1887, in Chicago, Illinois.
He studied at Harvard University from 1903 to 1906 and pursued further education at the University of Wisconsin from 1906 to 1908 and the University of Chicago from 1908 to 1909. Bloomfield began his teaching career at the University of Cincinnati from 1908 to 1909, followed by the University of Illinois from 1910 to 1913.
During his time at the University of Illinois, Bloomfield became interested in "exotic" languages, particularly Tagalog, which is now one of the official languages of the Philippines.
